This homemade costume for women entered our 2013 Halloween Costume Contest.
A word from Amanda, the 'Cuban Pete The Mask' costume creator:
My name is Amanda and this is my Mask costume! The idea came to me because I am a HUGE Jim Carrey fan who loves dressing up on Halloween. Since the original Mask costume (the one in the Yellow Suit) had been done before, I thought being the Mask as Cuban Pete was a unique and fun idea! ..Plus I love shaking those maracas! :)
The total cost for my costume was about $100. I had to get the shirt custom made, which was the most expensive part of the costume (they just don't make blue flamenco shirts like that). I put the pom poms on the hat myself, and also sewed red fabric together for the scarf. I wore a bald cap, which is key because the Mask has no ears and is green on all sides of his head. The last step is the messy but awesome florescent green paint.

P.S. The last picture is a photo of the "Mask" I carried around with me on the morning after wearing this costume. If you haven't seen the Mask or just don't remember it, I will explain the joke: In the movie, Jim Carrey finds a similar wooden mask that looks like that during the day, but it turns into the famous green Mask at night when he puts it on.
