Dober-poodle Costume

My 5 year old female Doberman named Madea is wearing a Poodle costume that I made for her. She is so wonderful about letting me dress her up for the different holidays! I happened to see a picture on Pinterest of a Doberman dressed as a Poodle and I thought that it would be a great idea to use for Madea on Halloween! I adopted Madea a little over a year ago and she has become not only a pet but my best friend and emotional support dog! I looked for material that had a curly texture and found a brushed type of velour. I used her own dog coat to measure a pattern for the body and hand stitched the edges down to keep them from raveling. I used large Velcro to attach around the neck and around the abdomen. I cut 4 long strips and gathered them and attached them with Velcro for the poms on the feet. The head piece was a little more difficult. I measured it larger and allowed for it to be gathered at the top with a black hair band for the pom on top of the head. I drew patterns for ears out of paper and then used it for the ear pattern. I sewed the ears on to the head piece. I used a large sparkly Pom Pom attached with a black ponytail holder for the Pom on the tail .
