Photo #1 - Jet debuting his costume at our local Beaches Parade Photo #2 - Previewing it before it was complete, before the new head. Photo #3 - First time with it on, including his custom treat-or-treat brick Photo #4 - Bucket head, literally...I hated it, and decided to hand craft a more accurate depiction of the head.

This homemade costume for boys entered our 2013 Halloween Costume Contest.

A word from Joyce, the 'Lego Minifigure' costume creator:

My son, Jet (9), recently developed a love of Lego, and we wanted to incorporate it into a costume, so we decided on a minifigure. I was able to make it for less than $10.00 (acrylic paints & 6" Styrofoam disc). It is made from things recycled from our home-cardboard inserts & large piece of Styrofoam (from a recently purchased stainless trashcan), poster board (leftover from a school project), 2 large plastic cups & 2 large paper cups, hot glue gun w/lots of glue sticks (from my crafting supplies), and a long sleeved shirt same color as body. The costume was a huge hit, at the costume parade, but more importantly, my son loves it. He said to me, “Mom, it is AWESOME!!!, it ROCKS!!!...you’re the best.” So it made it all worth it. A labor of love.

Body: Cut the shape like an elongated trapezoid, with a bumped out bottom to make the rounded top of legs, glue and cut holes for arms & head. Paint same color as long sleeved shirt, stop at bump (adhere Lego sign).

Legs: 4 pieces of rectangular cardboard (front & back 2x width of sides) glued. Feet, small rectangular tube shape attached to bottom front of legs. (Paint, including the bump at the bottom of body)

Hands: Cups with ends cut out, & large hole in center of the plastic cup to fit paper cup through (perpendicular). Paper cups glued down inside of plastic for hands to go through (1 area not glued w/hole for thumb). Paint bright yellow.

Head: Rounded styrofoam (top), with poster board wrapped around (face), large paper plate bottom out glued inside bottom of poster board, poster board (4" tall ring for neck). Paint bright yellow (adhere eyes & mouth, and don't forget to cut holes to see:^)).
