A word from Amanda, the 'Poppy riding a Unicorn' costume creator:
My 3 1/2 year old daughter, Zella, wanted to be Poppy from Trolls, our favorite movie. But then, while looking for a Poppy costume, she decided she also wanted to ride a unicorn! We didn't find an already made costume, so I had to buy the fabric and sew it myself. Didn't have a pattern, just got my idea off google. So with a tape measure, a marker & scissors, I got to work. I hand sewed the dress, but at the seams that would show, I actually used fabric glue because I knew I couldn't sew in a straight line! The headband flowers are made out of felt, no pattern used there either, just freehanded & cut & glued them. Cost of the handmade dress & headband is probably about $10! And it took about 5 hours to make. Her hair is her real hair. I used a thick big shower spongy thingy, cut a hole in the middle & stuck a paper towel roll in it. I cut about an inch off the paper towel roll & then teased her hair & bobby pinned it up to the paper towel roll. And lots of hairspray!!
