A word from Amanda, the 'Porcupine' costume creator:
This is my 21 month old son Pierce. He is wearing a costume I made from faux fur and craft foam. I found something similar on Pinterest but put my own spin on it. I think turned out cuter, showed his adorable little face better, and is far more functional to move around in. It was very easy to do and I used a hot glue gun to complete the entire thing! I started out with a regular kids ski cap and glued fur all over it. I cut a cape like shape out of the fur for the back. I glued ribbons on the inside of the cape to tie it together in the front. I cut the black n gray craft foam into strips and painted white stripes on them. After they were dry I glued them to the fur. I took a strip of the faux fur and pinned it on to the front of his coat underneath the cape. He loves to wear this costume and loves the attention. He can get around really well in it. I'm very pleased with how this project turned out!! It only took me about three and a half hours total.
