A word from Judith, the 'Snow Globes - New Orleans and Hawaii' costume creator:
My 14 year old (New Orleans) and 12 year old (Hawaii) daughters love homemade costumes for Halloween, and they've won in neighborhood and school contests for several years. I can't sew, but I can tape and hot glue like a champ. It's just a very fun Mom-daughter tradition. This year's project was snow globes, surprisingly easy, made with 6 sheets if desk protector acetate sheets from amazon, a sheet of insulation board for the base, a thick sheet of foam to fit to the waist, spray paint and little doodads unique to each location. It only took a few hours, the sacrifice of a kitchen carving knife to cut the foam and board, and a few bags of hot glue sticks. I got the idea online - and a very helpful Dad on Flicker provided a website with step by step instructions for the globe itself - priceless! They were the life of the parties and the girls loved all the attention.
