A word from Kristina, the 'Happy Blooming Flower' costume creator:
I (Kristina) am wearing the costume. The idea all popped up one day while I was in the silence of my home and it suddenly struck me that I wanted to be something friendly instead of violent or evil. Then, it came to me that I wanted to be a flower and I got all excited about it. I designed the pattern myself starting by drawing a stick figure, and turning it into a flower. I used felt material and the wiring of a plumbing snake for the main wiring. I glued beads on the petals for dots and put them in random positioning by dropping a hand full of beads onto each petal and gluing down each bead in the exact position it fell to. The arms and body I designed by outlining a favorite sweater for the arms and collar and outlining a hanging summer dress for the body. The shape of the petals and leaves I designed by holding the snake wiring in a desired position and outlining it for a pattern. There are two snake wires around the head as the frame for the petal attachments. I used laundry cable wire to hold up the petals when I couldn't find any wired coat hangers. The stripes on the leaves are embroidered on there. I chose warm colors to look cheerful.
