A word from Lisa, the 'Headless Bride' costume creator:
I love Halloween! I knew that I always wanted to be a headless bride! I went to the local Good Will and found an old wedding gown, Crinoline, long white opera gloves & a Back pack to use in my costume. While scouring the aisles searching for other items to use leaning against an old dresser was 2 plastic torso mannequin halves! PERFECT! I knew one of these was going to be the main part of my costume! Total cost at Good Wheel was 29.00. I started to work on my costume when I got home. I am a hoarder, I mean a collector of fine things and found fake blood, toilet paper, grocery bags, face makeup, and an old wig. I cut a slit in the bodice of the wedding gown where my head would go. I then took the mannequin half and put it in the back pack where I zipped it all the way up! This is what would sit on my back and tower over my head. I then put the wedding gown over the mannequin. I soaked toilet paper in fake blood then hot glued it onto the neck of the mannequin. I spread blood all over the front of the dress. I then stuffed the gloves with batting and grocery bags and safety pinned them inside the sleeves of the gown. I then made up my face with makeup and donned the wig. I inserted my head into the slit in the gown and positioned the back pack on. I lastly put on the crinoline under the dress to make it look like 1 long dress. This was easy to make and super fun! It cost me a whole $29.00 to make! I wore it to this years Halloween party at work and won 2nd place!
