A word from Shannon, the 'Headless Vampire' costume creator:
I am wearing the costume. My children wanted to be vampires for Halloween, but that was too boring for me. I decided to create this headless vampire for myself. I looked all over on the internet and couldn't find anything like what I was in vision I ng. I used cardboard, foam insulation and paper mache to create the "body". I used medical bandage to seal the neck off and stuck a chunk of dog rawhide bone in the neck for the effect of a spine. I bought red nail polish and dripped it around the neck and painted the neck. (The medical bandage was textured, so the nail polish gave it a great finish) The arms are made from metal hangers, covered with an orange pool noodle, and those covered with 3 layers of nylons for more of a skin tone. The body was attached to me with wooden dowels reaching down my back and wrapped to me with medical bandage. The corset i purchased, and the cape and skirt I made myself. Industrial strength Velcro was used to keep the skirt tight around my neck and to keep the skirt attached to the corset.
