Hot Air Balloon Costume

This is my son Jake. My husband and I had a blast making this Hot Air Balloon. We started with a basket and cut out the bottom. I then made the balloon cover sewing "globe" like strips of different colored fabric. To complete the balloon cover, I sewed boning into a red strip on the bottom so that we can shaped it. I purchase 4 -3/8 dowels, weaved them throught the basket and hot glued them to the inside of the balloon cover. We stuffed a couple of pieces of burlap with newspaper and tied with jute, then tiend the burlap "sand bags" to the basket. So that they did'nt move around so much, I also hot glued them in place. I attached straps to the basket so that Jake can wear his hot air balloon. Finally the day of, we put a weather balloon inside the balloon cover and blew it up. Hoila! Jake's Hot Air Balloon was complete.
