A word from Kim, the 'How the Grinch Stole Christmas' costume creator:
I wanted to do a grinch theme but make it something that hasn’t been done before . My goal was to use as many recylable materials as possible. I started with a car full of cardboard and lots of duct tape. I constructed the fireplace and attached it to a large piece of cardboard. I attached black fabric to the back so my husband could walk. I sewed the grinch legs and shoes and threaded rope through them so they were hanging in the fireplace. I painted a portrait of a Who from whoville and constructed the frame all out of cardboard. I attached a mantle to the fireplace and used floral wire to attach the decorations. I made a frame and put a picture of Cindy Lou who in it for the mantle. For my Christmas tree I used cardboard and painted it green. I put pieces of cardboard on each side and made it double sided. I cut out the star and wrapped it in foil duct tape. To attach the decorations on the tree I poked holes and used wire threaded through. My daughter was the grinch’s dog, max. I made an antler out of cardboard and attached brown felt to it. I sewed the antler to her dog costume. I used more cardboard to make her wagon look like a sled. I wrapped presents and added them to the wagon. Together we looked like a scene from the movie with the grinch coming down the fire place, A Christmas Tree and the grinch’s dog max waiting in the sleigh.
