A word from Marina, the 'Icee from Texas' costume creator:
My daughter Marissa is an icee. I came up with the idea because when we stop at any store my kids always want to get an icee. This is the best way to cool off in Texas.
I took 2 poster boards and measured my daughter around the waist and cut below the knee. I duct taped the poster board around her waist in the form of a cup. I then measured her arms and cut holes on each side for her arms to hang out. I then cut out strip if felt and used a hot glue gun to attach them to the cup made of poster board. I then cut out letters with glitter felt and attached them to the front of the poster board. I took red spray and painted fiber fill to make the slushy like material. I let that dry and then cut a hole at the bottom of a clear salad bowl. I cut out a half circle from poster board to fit between my daughters neck and front of cup to hold the slushy material. I hot glued the posterboard to the inside of the circular cup and placed the other end to her neck. I then placed the salad bowl upside down over daughters head and onto the circular posterboard. Then I took the dried fiberfill and filled the salad bowl with the red spray painted fiberfill. I then spray painted daughters hair red and attached some fiber fill to her head with bobby pins. I cut a red strip of felt and rolled it up to make a straw. This costume was so much fun and the biggest hit in my neighborhood.
