Invasion of Planet of the Apes Costume

This costume was inspired from a childhood favorite, the 1968 Original Planet of the Apes. My sister, Jana Hoffman, and I have been planning on a costume involving the horses to ride downtown for the Halloween Stroll. We started with lots of research, making sure everything was as close to the movie as possible. We picked out our fabrics and began to create. We ordered foam latex gorilla face attachments, as the mask we ordered wouldn't suffice. The horses were easy, we used simple black head stalls and reins, as seen in the movie, and even painted one of the horses black.
The reactions we got were more than we would have expected. People gathered around, to watch the apes swinging their wipe and riding through the crowds. I don't think we will ever have this reaction again. Hearing people talk around town and surprised to the possibility these were women.
