This homemade costume for men entered our 2017 Halloween Costume Contest.
A word from Jose, the 'Jack Skellington' costume creator:
Model: Myself. The idea came from when my girlfriend and i were talking about Halloween (she loves Halloween). She asked for some ideas and I said "Nightmare Before Christmas" and instantly it was a perfect choice. She began working on it in August, though with worries of the storm coming ahead she had to put it off for a while.
Materials: Huge balloon, wall plaster, water, netting, Sharpie marker, old suit, white Acylic or Fabric paint, black Acrylic paint, black shoes, cardboard, fabric or mesh, led lights, black chenille stems (pipe cleaners), any additional/ cute accessories.
To begin, you blow up the balloon larger than your head. You draw the eyes, nose holes, and the mouth is optional. You do not cover the eyes and nose. Work quickly due to the fast drying wall plaster. Let the bast dry for a few days, at least 24 hours. Remember to leave a hole big enough at the bottom to fit a head. Once dried, sand down the mask until smoothed. Add a bicycle helmet on the inside, you may have to cut the styrofoam in half and glue into position so the mask can fit properly.
The suit is to be painted with white stripes, thin stripes look better. You can change the buttons with huge white ones to make it look more similar to the movie. Let dry. And you're done.
