A word from Melanie, the 'Jack the Pumpkin King' costume creator:
My 6 year old son dressed as jack skellington from nightmare before Christmas. I took a pin stripped suit from the second hand store. I cut the front bottom to use for the tails if the jacket and just sewed the edges. I cut the left over pieces into triangles and sewed to the back for the tail. I then used puffy paint to trace the lines in the suit. The characters strips aren't all perfect so you can miss spot and have crooked ones. I bought a pair of second hand black dress shoes for his shoes. For the hands I used a pair of 99 cent black stretchy gloves from the store and painted on bones with more puffy paint. For the neck piece I use 1 sheet of thick felt and cut into the shape of the bat tie. I then used more puffy paint to draw the lines. I to a plain white tshirt and glued it to the collar. The whole costume cost $19 to make. I used 8 bottles of $1 puffy paint in white.
