Jessie from Toy Story Costume

We did a group dress up at work and all picked a 'Toy Story' character - I picked Jessie! I had rescued the hat from my friend's daughter who was going to toss it and used yarn to make a braid that I held on with an elastic headband under the cowboy hat (saved me from having all that yarn making my head hot ;-) )

The shirt was a white button down shirt from Goodwill, some yellow felt and red yarn. I just safety pinned the felt on so I could reuse the shirt for future costumes and the cuffs were felt, Velcro, yarn and fringe with buttons sewn on for decoration. I cut out a rough idea of what one side of chaps would be then flipped it and traced a reverse so they matched and sewed strips of left over fabric to tie at the top and bottom of the leg. A few slices at the top to lace through a belt and voila... chaps! I had the gun belt and toy guns and some old cowboy boots (don't forget to write 'Andy' on your boot sole).

I added some large decorative buttons with little loops of elastic to wrap around the actual shirt buttons and some elastic string with a plastic loop - I used the inner ring of a plastic embroidery hoop - pinned under the folded over collar for a pull string and all done! My coworker brought in her Bullseye horse plush so I would have a noble steed.
