A word from Lori, the 'King Tut' costume creator:
My handmade King Tut Costume. Burnt parchment paper on cardboard is the "coffin" around me. Sides had painted hieroglyphics, back had the curse of Kind Tut. On top, was a desert scene with pyramid, camel, scarab beatles. $1 store cats with extra duct tape wrapped around ears and sprayed black. Coins decorated the top with battery operated light up "jewels". Costume was a starched pencil skirt hand painted to mimic Tuts actual costume. Necklace was painted paint chips. Headpiece was a bent wire hanger with fabric wrapped around and hand painted. Headpiece front had the actual serpent and bird on Tuts, this was made with molding and baking clay then painted. The two pieces of cardboard that are down to the sides of the head are actually little compartments that housed mini speakers with a Walkman in which played Steve Martin's "King Tut"...... Yes I have too much time on my hands!! ... Happy Halloween everyone! :)
