This homemade costume for girls entered our 2023 Halloween Costume Contest.
A word from Angelique, the 'Lahaina Maui Snow Globe' costume creator:
My daughter, Waimea Rogat (8) is wearing a Lahainaluna High School shirt with a Lei Po'o of red ti-leaf on her head.
Initially we were going to do a Hawaii Snow Globe but then the August 8, 2023 fire destroyed our beloved Lahaina Town so we decided to do this Lahaina Snow Globe in support of Lahaina.
The globe features some landmarks of Lahaina. Front Street, Lahaina Surf, West Maui Mountains with the "L" to represent Lahainaluna High School and the beautiful 150 year old Banyan Tree which survived the fire.
My family is from Hawaii and love our island Maui!
We made this costume. The costume is mainly made of foam with a insulation board holding the bottom up and acetate to create the dome.
