Lego Movie Benny Costume

My son Joey has a love for space and spaceships so when the Lego movie came out Benny was the perfect match. Joey did most of the costume himself but I helped with the helmet, made the arms and spray painted it. We used cardboard (donated generously but his grandparents), packaging tape for the inside and masking tape for the outside and wood glue. Once it was constructed, we covered the parts with glue. It gave the whole costume the texture of plastic and kept the paint from soaking into the cardboard. Joey insisted his costume be as close as he could to scale, so he measured one of his Lego men in millimeters and with help from his brother discovered the perfect ratio to fit him and multiplied by 4.7 to get the centimeters he would need for cutting each piece.
