This homemade costume for families entered our 2022 Halloween Costume Contest.
A word from Dalyce, the 'Lightning McQueen and the Checkered Flag' costume creator:
My 5 year-old son Phoenix is wearing a home-made Lightning McQueen costume that goes over his wheelchair (he has cerebral palsy and is wheelchair-bound.) To make the costume we used paper mache, card board box, foam, pvc pipe, vinyl, magnets for the doors, and gorilla tape. We painted it with spray paint. The checkered flag is a checked shirt, silver face paint, a beanie, and a checkered blanket. The movie Cars is his favorite ever and he was so excited to be the main character for Halloween:
