This homemade costume for girls entered our 2014 Halloween Costume Contest.
A word from Christina, the 'Ariel the Mermaid' costume creator:
This is my sweet 6 year old daughter Emmy Pearl from Pawleys Island SC.
I created the mermaid dress using one leg from a pair of adult stretch pants. I cut a hole for arms about 3 inches from top making it into a form forting fress. I then sewed on a fluffy lace skirt on the bottom to great the Tail. I spray painted it green and cut out a simple scalloped stencil from cardboard to paint on the scales. The simple white shirt on top has been painted to show a seashell "bra". The headband was embellished with ribbons and seashells! She felt so beautiful - and it was super eaat to create! I just got the idea after brainstorming after she told me she wanted to be Ariel and I couldnt find a costume in her size. Turned out great!!! ;)
