Little House on the Prairie Family Costume

This is my family as the Ingalls and Almanzo from the Little House on the Prairie books. My seven-year-old read the books this past summer and we visited the site of the little house in the big woods. We have theee daughters and the oldest is wheelchair-dependent. So, we made her chair into a covered wagon for our little Mary Ingalls. The other two girls are Laura and Baby Carrie to our Ma and Pa. I hit the thrift store and found all of our prairie dresses and we paired plaid shirts and pants we already had with suspenders. We ordered bonnets online. For the covered wagon wheelchair costume I bought four pieces of foam board and applied a barn wood decal. I cut and wired them together around her chair. I bent wooden dowels over the top to create a canopy and pinned a white pillowcase together. I think it came together really nicely!
