Little Red Riding Hood and her Crew Costume

Our daughter, Emsie, planned to wear a Little Red Riding Hood cape that was knit by her great-grandmother and worn by her mother (Leslie) when she was around the same age as Emsie. Emsie's daddy jokingly said he could dress as the Big Bad Wolf and I (Leslie) could go as the grandmother. That sparked an idea in my head and after a quick run to Goodwill and digging through our craft basket, we pulled it together. We found the perfect Granny nightgown at Goodwill and completed that costume with a cane borrowed from a neighbor along with some stockings and white hair spray. For the Big Bad Wolf costume, I did a google search for Do-It-Yourself ideas and found a tutorial on Martha Stewart's website. With some felt, paper, a hot glue gun, and some fur from a stuffed bear (Goodwill purchase), we made eyes, ears, a nose, big teeth, and some claws and glued all of these on to a brown hoodie purchased from Goodwill. The Little Red Riding Hood costume didn't require anything to be purchased as we had the cape, a skirt & shirt, and a basket at home already. It was priceless to see my daughter wear the cape I had worn as a child and fun to pull off a first-ever family costume idea.
