A word from Francesca, the 'Mad Scientist' costume creator:
I had so much fun making this costume! & everyone loved, loved it!
I seen this costume on a kid and was fascinated by it and I knew I could do it too, lol!
I used a velcro back brace and attched 2 pvc pipes to the back pockets. At the tips of the pvc pipes I duct taped a hanger. I then found some flat foam that you would use for padding on a seat from the thrift store and taped it the hanger. So the foam on a hanger is sitting higher up on my back. I went looking all over for a lab coat & finally found one at a thrift store. I placed it over the hanger and foam and buttoned it up and I had a chest. I then stuffed the arms and hot glued plastic gloves to the sleeves of the arms stuffing them as well. I needed a neck so I had to think creative. I then got it! I got a roll of toilet paper and covered it with tan colored knee highs. I put hot glue on top of the panty hose, let it dry and painted it red to look like blood. I then set the neck to the hook of the hanger! It worked perfect! After I put on the back brace I pinned the gloves under my neck and it looked so real!
We had a Halloween party and I made the garage my laboratory. What a fun night!
