A word from Josie, the 'Madeline' costume creator:
My daughter, Madison, has always loved the literary character Madeline. She HAD to be her for Halloween, but you can't find that costume anywhere. So I bought a straw hat, re-shaped it with steam and wire, spray painted it yellow, and adorned it with the iconic black ribbon and Madeline bow. The costume is 100% sewn by machine and hand. It's two pieces, the dress and then the cloak. It's made blue and white felt, a red ribbon, and two black buttons. She has the iconic white mittens, white bobbi socks, and black mary jane shoes. She insisted on taking our dog, Gretel, as Genevieve. So we fixed her up with a special red collar and bow to match the dog's character. My daughter, who is seven, also got a hair cut specifically to match Madeline's. And she's carrying a 3D pop up cardboard cut out of a scene from the book, that way if people don't recognize her, she can show them who Madeline is. :)
