Mal Descendants 2 Dress Costume

My daughter wanted to dress up like Mal from Descendants 2 but the stores did not have the cotillion dress that the character wears in the movie. I decided to use an old dress pattern I had and adjust it slightly so that I could make the layers in the front like the dress in the movie. I spent around $60 on materials. After making the dress, I used a lighter to burn the edges of the fabric and then with a brush, I used black fabric paint to paint the dress to look like it was burnt. I used fabric adhesive to glue the green and purple ribbon on the bodice. I attached left over tulle to a bat shape around her neck so it looked like the cape. I bought purple gloves online and cut the fingertips off, then glued gems to the front of the gloves. I made a crown out of a foamie sheet and glued it to the top of a headband. I also bought a purple wig that looked like Mal's hair. Everywhere we walked kids in the store-bought Mal costumes would ask me where I bought the dress because they had never seen it.
