A word from Stacey, the 'Maleficent' costume creator:
Isabella is channeling her inner Maleficent. The idea of maleficent comes from a mixture of three maleficent. Descendants, sleeping beauty, and Maleficent the movie. There are five oats to this costume. 1st the under dress I looked up 15 century era and design my own pattern and made a simple black dress with long pointing sleeves. The 2nd piece is the coat over her dress I made the coat with a train and added lace to the sleeves and side of coat. I used buckram for the villain collar. 3rd piece was a chocker I used fake leather. 4th piece was a staff I found a branch out in the desert sawed some limbs off it used sandpaper to smooth out the stick. I than got some twine and taped it to the stick to give it that vine root look. Then I got some black electrical tape and taped it up. I had a Styrofoam ball and shaped added hot glue to give it a vain tree look as if the gem was growing in the staff I than painted the Styrofoam black and added some gems to bling it out. Bought a baby crow to show that Isabella has a pet the age of here since she is a kid maleficent. 5th piece is the headpiece of maleficent. I used a headband and some black foam to make the foundation. The horns are made of toilet paper rolls that are hot glued together added twine to the horn hot glued it to the horn to give it that horn feeling. I used black electrical tape. I cut out strips of Styrofoam and hot glued the horns down. I than put heavy duty snake skin to cover the Styrofoam and part of the horns. I had some fake leather material and made a turban around her head and the horns and that's how I made maleficent.
