A word from Amy, the 'Mardi Gras Float' costume creator:
My 7 year old daughter wanted to be a show girl but we had a ton of beads and suveniers from New Orleans. We came up with a Mardi Gras Float idea. We used pvc piping for the frame with chicken wire over it. Cut a hole in center and put a belt on it that was then tied to my daughter at her waist. wrapped green and purple material around it. We used Mardi Gras ribbon to anchor and ballance the front and back. She was a Mardi Gras queen on one side and the back of her was the fortune teller. The mask and wig fitted to the back of her head. When she looked around, the fortune teller also was looking around. We used an outdoor solar light that we inserted a tea light to keep it lit and also put lights and purple glow stick in the homemade crystal ball made from a balloon and paper mache. Printing signs and decorations to decorate the float. Everyone loved the oringinality of the float and being from Pittsburgh, PA, they want to go to Mardi Gras now.
