This homemade costume for couples entered our 2012 Halloween Costume Contest.
A word from Amy, the 'Marge and Homer' costume creator:
My boyfriend Garrett and I decided to dress as our favorite cartoon couple. I made the hat from posterboard, spray adhesive, about 500 cotton balls, and blue spray paint. The dress is felt cloth, and the necklace is ping pong balls painted red with quick-dry nail polish and strung on elastic thread.
For Homer, Garrett started with a bald cap and used pipe cleaners to make Homer's hair, then covered his face and the cap with yellow face paint (brown around mouth). He stuffed his shirt with a pillow and made Homer's employee badge (adapted from one on the internet).
For the eyes, we used the top of a tennis ball container to trace circles on junk mail envelopes, then cut them out and taped them to sunglasses (or adhered to face - in Homer's case - with spirit gum). The total cost of both of our costumes was about $30-35 each/about $70 total. We had a blast both making and wearing these costumes. : ) Happy Halloween!!!
