A word from Jessica, the 'Marge Simpson' costume creator:

This is definitely the most extravagant I have gotten for Halloween! I'm not sure how I came up with the idea to be Marge, I just wanted to be something "cartoon-like" and that's what I ended up with!

The Hair: yes, it is my real hair! I got chicken wire from the hardware store and created a cylinder type shape so that I had something to pin my hair to. I took the middle portion of my hair and teased it inside the wire cylinder, and the rest of the hair I curled and pinned up over the wire. After curling it my hair wasn't long enough to cover all the way to the top of the wire, so I then pinned a bunch of ribbons to fill in the empty space. Once all that was done, I curled my bangs and sprayed the whole thing blue! All in all I think the hair alone took about 2 hours...yikes.

I used yellow body paint on my face, neck and arms, and found yellow tights for my legs. I painted on the white eyes to give more of the cartoon effect, and then added glitter of course.

I found the necklace at a bead shop...they were already knotted together and everything! I already had the red shoes so that helped too.

Finally for the dress...I made it out of a long skirt that I found at a thrift store. I cut it in half and took the fabric that I cut off and wrapped it around the top half of my body, put the remaining skirt on top, and made a belt out of the lining from the cut off fabric.

All in all the costume process was very extensive, but it was so worth it! If only I had a Homer to go with me...
