This homemade costume for families entered our 2013 Halloween Costume Contest.

A word from Kate, the 'Mario Family' costume creator:

We like to do family costumes, and came up with Mario themed ones this year. My daughter is princess peach, two of my sons are the hammer brothers, I am toadette, and ny youngest son is toad (he refused to keep his hat on).

how did you make the hammer bro costume? my son is 8 and wants to be that this year, i dont know where to start!

I got $1.00 aluminum pans at the dollar tree for the shells, and then spray painted them. I found the yellow clothing at goodwill, yard sales, or walmart. I sewed the correct colored material (felt from michaels or walmart) on hats my kids already had. The hammers were made from toilet paper rolls and construction paper.
