A word from Sandy, the 'Marshall Amplifier' costume creator:
The costume is being worn by myself. My ex boyfriend plays guitar and he showed me this tiny Marshall Amp that I thought was a display but it's an actual miniature practice amp. I thought it was so adorable. As I like to sing, (not professionally) and the plug was the same size as my microphone, I got this crazy idea. I started with 2 cardboard boxes. One had a chandelier shipped in it and had a styrofoam insert which made a perfect frame for the speaker.I used blue painters tape and black spray paint which i purchased from home depot for the box. I used paper cups and paint, both from the dollar tree and painted them to look like the knobs on the amp. I used an old sweater to get the speaker cover and printed the Marshall logo and cut it out with an exacto knife and glued it to the front. I used a large nut to replicate the amplifier plug which I actually ran my microphone plug through and carried the miniature amp on my belt with it plugged in and it actually works with a 9 volt battery. (the mini amp) I also hot glued a kids red finger light to replicate the power on light. Lastly I took a tool clip from home depot and attached it to the side of the costume for a mic holder. One picture shows the mini amp and one shows the mic in the holder. I walked around my friends neighborhood last Halloween and had a Japanese man say he thought I was a Karaoke Machine, another man hand me $1 for best costume and a house that we were passing offered us Jello Shots.
