Menat vs Dee Jay Costume

Both costumes made entirely by scratch by me (the girl). The body of the Menat costume was made using a long, continuous strip of fabric I hand cut. I sewed all the fabric into place which was incredibly difficult as I don’t have that much sewing experience. The head band was made out of foam, gold fabric, gold tape, gold paper fasteners and an Egyptian cat I hand sculpted and painted with an acrylic spray paint (that I also concocted myself with mica powders). The Knee/shin armor was made out of foam I molded to fit the shape of my knee and covered with gold tape, as well as strips of fabric to secure to my leg. Though the wig (and the base of Dee jays pants) and wasn’t hand made, it took about 3 hours to cut and style it into a bob identical to Menat’s.

I made Dee Jay’s pants the day of Halloween. I cut the letters out from pieces of felt and glued them to the excess fabric from the orange pants. They were a 4XL so I was able to cut THAT much fabric off of them and hand dye it a darker color (with Rit Dye).
