Mini Marie Antionette Costume

I sewed every section of this mini Marie Antionette dress for my 18month old daughter, Sadie! I started with a princess Simplicity pattern for the bodice and added embellished from there. I learned how to box-pleat yards of ribbon by hand, like they would have done in 18th century France. I hand stitched layers of lace and satin ribbon for the sleeves. While we were trick or treating many neighbors said, “best costume of the night” and “let them eat cake” (which is the infamous Marie Antionette quote). My daughter loved this whole outfit, and didn’t try to remove the store bought wig once. This made it worth the months of prep and every hour of stitching.
