This homemade costume for families entered our 2022 Halloween Costume Contest.
A word from Michelle, the 'Moana Family Theme' costume creator:
Who doesn't love Moana?? I knew I wanted to use this as our theme this year. I bought sheets from Goodwill for the base (Moana's was a fitted sheet to utilize the elastic 😉), I bought flowers and vines and made our headpieces. Moana's dress was the most detailed and my Cricut came in handy making the triangle bases. I used fabric markers and my sublimation printer to decorate the skirts and hot glued tassels from trim ribbon. The shirt (which I found on clearance) I cut and sewed it to look like hers. I used left over material to make the sash. Grass skirt was purchased. My husband was Maui which was readily available online, I added additional leaves and I made his necklace out of lightweight clay and hot glued to jule. Dogs costume were all made from felt, stuffing and shoe strings for ties. I had white fur and a blue feather clip that I added for more detail. With our Love of Moana, we had plenty of accessories and makeup to complete our ensemble. 😁
