A word from Migina, the 'Baby BB-8' costume creator:
My 6.5 month old daughter is wearing this plush BB-8 costume. We had a different family/group costume that wasn't going to optimize our baby's plump and cuddliness. So last minute, I was experiencing some fomo and decided that she needed a cute, round baby costume for her first Halloween. Her dad is a very passionate Star Wars fan, so, it had to be BB-8.
It was important to me that everything in her costume was soft if not plush. So, the base was material from an old Olaf from Frozen. The helmet structure is a styrofoam ring (just around the head) and pillow stuffing. The two ocular pieces are cotton stuffed fabric sewn within cardboard structures covered by felt. The two antennae are strips cut from a light-up foam stick that we got free from a street fair, sewn over with some fabric and felt. BB-8's designs are represented in felt and grey yarn, and anything that needs to fasten together is done by velcro. The body is also plumped out with pillow stuffing.
tip: Plush/furry material is very good at hiding sloppy sewing.
