This homemade costume for boys entered our 2017 Halloween Costume Contest.

A word from Chris, the 'Rogue One Shoretrooper' costume creator:

This shoretrooper costume was made for my 10 year old son. The helmet and armor are constructed of EVA foam mats. I started the process by tracing the helmet lines of the actual character from screen stills. I transferred them to paper and made paper mock ups until I got the shapes I wanted. For the armor I traced my sons body and sketched the armor shapes. These patterns were transferred to the foam and both hot glue and contact cement were used to connect the pieces. The foam was heat sealed and shaped. A coat of plasti-dip was sprayed on and the armor was painted and weathered to resemble the actual character. The buckles are plastic and I bought the large ones and re-purposed a SCUBA fin strap for the lower leg buckles. The armor his held together with a combination of 1 and 2 inch nylon webbing and Velcro.

For the undergarments I used a black turtleneck and brown jogging pants I bought on line. The shoes are Merrel slip on mocs. The Kama is cotton canvas that was dyed and painted for weathering to be a faded black.

For the blaster I painted a costume stormtrooper blaster and mounted a actual weapon flashlight like on the real shoretrooper E11. The gloves are costume stormtrooper gloves that I added additional foam for depth and painted the armor piece with acrylic paint to match.
