A word from Alex, the 'Star Wars' costume creator:
This costumes were worn by my family. All costumes and props are 100% DIY, except C3POs head, Amidalas dress and the Laser sword. For C3PO I made a plaster cast of my whole body with plaster bandage and laminated glass fiber mats over it. Sanding, filling, sanding and painting and so on took about one month. I added "fan grills" like used in furniture as eyes and placed some leds behind, to make the eyes glow. The R2D2 is based on a tricylce and a rainbarrell. My son drove R2D2 and a via active accu speakers in the legs and a MP3-player he was able to play typical R2D2 sounds and other typical Star Wars sounds. Leia had knitted hair, because we useed the costumes in February. As Obi Wans we used "Wollkrepp" (couldn't find a translation for that on internet).
