The Family IT Costume

Our 5 year old son Dakota insisted on being PENNYWISE from IT this year. We have making his costume for the last 3 years so this her expected nothing different. This was definitely the most challenging as this new IT's costume is not your normal clown suit. First I searched for a girls bell sleeve top. I searched for some time but found one that was for an older age so it would fit long. Next I needed pants wth ruffles which I found in the girls section on Amazon. I ordered them a size smaller so they would fit short on him. Next was the collar. Those were a little pricey so I ended up finding ruffle ribbon that was perfect once wrapped around. Then Then details, the red ribbon to tie astound his arms, the extra large pom poms for buttons, the ribbon with small pom poms already attached and the plain ribbon to tie around the waist. Since all of the clothes was white I had to purchase grey fabric spray paint and get to work. Next the hair & make up. I used white clown makeup and red & black face crayons along with darker red lipstick & black eye shadow. For the hair I used a Red wash out spray. Last but not least the shoes. Dad got to work on those using an old pair of rain boots and good ole trusty masking tape (red, black & white). I(mom) ordered myself a yellow rain poncho to play the part of Georgie & Dad wore Red balloons that we clipped to his hoodie. And walla there you have the family IT! Overall cost about $80 but partly because we didn't look for items with enough time & had to buy the things that would ship faster.
