Night Walker Costume

Hi, My name is Mia Harris and I am 10. This year I wanted to be something super scary for Halloween. I got the idea for my costume when I was searching for Halloween crafts that I could make myself. I saw something on a Halloween costume on stilts. This inspired me to try to make my own. I started working on the project with my dad. We bought some wood for the base of the stilts and some screws to fit the pieces together. We made 4 stilts in all, one for each of my hands and legs. Once we had finished with the base, we moved onto making it so I would not fall out of it. For that we measured my legs and my arms so that when we put the it on, I would still be able to bend my arms and legs. Next, we added chicken wire to give the creature it's shape. It took a while to complete this part. Once this was done, we went to pick out the perfect shade of fabric to go over the chicken wire. To attach it, we put down some newspaper in the driveway then set the chicken wired stilts on top of it. After that we sprayed some spray glue onto the fabric and stuck it to the silts. This took a long time to complete. Finally, the hardest part was learning to walk in it. To get into it I had to sit on a ladder and have someone Velcro me in. It took a long time but eventually I learned to walk very well in it. I could even stand on my back legs which my mom was a little nervous about that. I was excited to show my homemade costume to my friends at the block party. Underneath I wore a black jumpsuit with a white scary mask. They thought I was very scary and said they liked the costume and had never seen anything like it. I had so many people stop to ask if they could take my picture. This is 100% my favorite costume I have ever had.
