A word from Caitlin, the 'Nyotaimori' costume creator:
I made this costume for my friend who got the idea from Pinterest. She sent it me and asked if I could make it knowing that I make all of my Halloween costumes. The costume is called Nyotaimori meaning to serve sushi on the human body. Majority of the materials I used to create this were recycled or re-purposed materials. The green leaves were cut out of larger palm fronds that were too big to fit the body. The flowers were left over from another project I had worked on for a friend's bridal shower. I made the sushi pieces out of a piece of packing styro-foam, black electrical tape, play-doh and glue. The other pieces are erasers I had ordered on Amazon. I attached the pieces of sushi with push pins through the back of the leaves. I also sewed Velcro pieces to a body suit so she would be able to take the leaves and sushi off of her when she wanted to sit down. Her boyfriend, in support of her costume, dressed up like chop-sticks.
