A word from Chelsea, the 'Olaf from Frozen' costume creator:
My son, Leo (age 4), is dressed as Olaf from Frozen. Olaf is one of his favorite characters, and he requested that he be Olaf for Halloween. I made the costume by starting with a simple "dress" as the lining. I then took a basic shirt bodice pattern and added pieces in front/back and under the armpits so that it would be poofy. The bottom snowball is basically a "donut" I created by taking a long rectangle, sewing the ends together, and gathering the top and bottom before I pieced it to the middle snowball. His hood is elongated to make the head stick up above my son's face. I appliqued the eyes, eyebrows, and smile out of felt, and I made the carrot out of cotton and then hand stitched it in place. The twigs are from Joann's floral department; I snipped off the flowers from the wire stems and glued/stitched them into the head. The coal buttons are faux leather balls that I hand stitched in place. Lastly, the costume is open on the bottom and easily slips over my son's head; then you tie everything together by buttoning the snowflakes over his shoulders as well as two hidden buttons under the hood.
