Optimus Prime as Bumblebee Costume

My son saw a transforming costume online.

Obviously, I had to make one for him this Halloween.

He wanted a car, but we had an Optimus Prime helmet...
We made Optimus dressed as Bumblebee for halloween.

Our inspiration were paper card templates that we cut it out and adapted to make a model.

The process for this project was a long parade of mistakes and new ideas but at the end of the day we had a cool cardboard box transforming car.

The costume is made of cardboard that is duck taped together and overlaid with signmaking vinyl.

We zip tied at three-quarter inch PVC frame inside that we attached to his dirtbike body armor with shoulder pads.

We attached are bicycle safety lights to this he also wore a space robot bodysuit, kneepads, and elbow pads.

In addition to his awesome gloves, and an Optimus Prime helmet he rode a hover board that was attached to the phone with Bluetooth speakers which blasted the Transformers theme song.

We got a lot of positive feedback from folks at the Jackson Heights children’s Halloween parade in Queens New York city…

My son was very happy.
