Petite Purple Rain Prince Costume

My 21 month old daughter is wearing Prince's iconic Purple Rain outfit. After his death earlier this year, we thought it would be a perfect send-off for the artist. She already has great Prince hair, and that's half the battle! I searched on Ebay for a used coat that I could alter. I found a lovely coat that needed some tweaking. I removed the hood, and several bows, and sewed it into a sort of "open" position. I used deep purple fabric spray paint to color it, and added pyramid iron-on bead embellishments. I used a plain white turtle neck and a half a yard of white silky fabric to make ruffles. I cut the fabric into strips and sewed them into a circle, creating ruffles. I added the ruffles along the front, sleeves and neck. I added 3 large buttons in a diagonal design to a pair of her black leggings. Lastly we drew on a mustache with eyeliner and gave her a Rockband guitar!
