A word from Luci, the 'Pharaoh and Mummified Egyptian Priestess' costume creator:
I was inspired to create an Egyptian pharaoh costume for my husband David because of his long goatee. The costume centers around his regal beard wrapping and his bald, gold head. Everything, including his ankh staff, is home made save for his costume accessories. Not wanting to be a mundane priestess, I opted for a mummified one instead. My costume is entirely home made except for the gold necklace and modified headpiece. My face was created using a technique I followed from an online tutorial. The sunken eye sockets were created using aluminum foil and the rest of the face then layered with multiple layers of liquid latex and toilet paper then paint. It took myself and friend Chris a total of 5 hours labor to make the prosthetic I could then peel off. The wrappings are a culmination multiple layers of tea stained medical gauze and outer layers of burlap. This too took several hours. The final addition of contact lenses purchased online completed the look.
