This homemade costume for boys entered our 2020 Halloween Costume Contest.
A word from Wendi, the 'Plague Doctor' costume creator:
My 11 year old son is wearing the costume. I modified and refashioned some parts of the costume and made others. The mask was made from foam using a pattern from SKS Props and their video tutorial for guidance. The hat was modified from a 99cent thrift store hat. The coat was refashioned to add the shoulder cape, change the collar and cut of the coat to look more to the period. The vest was from his dad's steampunk outfit. The walking stick is pvc pipe with a plastic skull fixed to the top painted to look like wood and metal. The bag is just a small ladies' purse with apothecary bottles added. The syringe is a plastic child's medicine dropper made to look metal and old fashioned by glueing key chain rings and painting. My son loves his costume and gives it a 9.5/10 (lost half a point because the neck wrap is too tight and the mask is "very stuffy").
