A word from Carol, the 'Potted Petunia Flowers' costume creator:
This is my daughter, Audra Fewell, and myself dressed as Pink and Blue Potted Petunia Flowers. My inspiration came from the Alice in Wonderland "flower faces". I like to be original and make my own costumes each year. The flowers are made from sheets of colored foam, cut into petal shapes, stapled to gather and hot glued to hold in place on a winter cap I found with a tie under the neck. I made the leaves out of felt, foam, and paint, and did the same with those. I framed the faces by gathering some fabric that I attached with needle and thread. Added some curled pipe cleaners and couple of clip on bird and butterfly ornaments I found. Made the stems on a dress and long sleeved top and leggings. Found some plastic drink bins that looked like hammered copper, cut the bottoms out to make the pots. Pretty inexpensive and not much sewing needed on this one! Probably spent under $25 each!
