A word from Sarah, the 'Pumpkat' costume creator:
My hand made Pumpkat costume. I wanted to be a black cat trick or treating as a pumpkin for Halloween. I used strips of plastic for the skull as well as hot glue, and foam. I also used elastic to form a moveable jaw. Then faux fur and a neon wig for the head. I used screen and cardboard for the 3-D follow-me-eyes, cardboard for inside the mouth. I used felt for the teeth/tongue. I used acrylic for the paint job. And glow in the dark glitter glue around the eyes, moon teeth and nose. I pieced three fake nails together using superglued and filed them down to look like one long claw then painted and superglued them onto black gloves for claws and made the paw pads out of felt with a glow in the dark outlining. The tulle I found wasn't the color I wanted,so I used acrylic paint and rolled tulle in the paint until it was completely covered. Tied strips of painted tulle onto elastic. I made each flower with a bead in center and ribbon/string.(lots of ironing five separate pieces of ribbon and folding for each flower) I added gold glitter glue drops as well as a Halloween ribbon on top with elastic to form a Tutu. I made the Pumpkat name tag out of hot glue, felt, foam, ribbon and glitter glue. Most of the material I already had from past crafts. The only thing I didn't hand make is the shirt, pants, boots, cloak and scarf So it cost me around $15. That's not counting the material I already had on me.
