A word from Matthew, the 'Queen of Hearts' costume creator:
I began constructing my costume on September first of this year. I began with the crown which was a 16 hour project. The crown, corset, belted sleeves, waist belt, lion/unicorn belt buckle and pauldrens were made out of foam that I manipulated with a heat gun and painted. The dress is a panel dress that I made and used diluted acrylic red paint to spray on the bottom, creating an hombre effect. The wig took 6 hours to straighten and tease. I then added embellishments including white roses painted red. The nails were spray painted white then dipped into red paint to give the effect of white roses painted red.
