A word from Christina, the 'Realistic Terrifying Werewolf' costume creator:
I have always loved werewolves in literature and media. In my opinion, there are far too few movies with werewolves. There are only so many times you can re-watch Werewolves of London.
I have been wanting to make a werewolf costume for years and I finally decided to tackle the project this year. I had a very old mask from Spirit Halloween I had gotten years ago. It was an arctic fox and looked absolutely horrible. I decided to use it as a base. I stripped the fur from the mask and completely rebuilt the face using air dry clay. I painted it, added fur, teeth, and details. I used foam to make the body and built the legs off of a pair of sweatpants. The hand paws were made out of foam, wire, fur, clay, and gloves. The feet paws were made out of heels. I cut the back of the heel off and built the paw off of what was left.
I purchased a sound glove. I had 16 sounds uploaded to it and connected it to a speaker that hangs around my neck.
I am now working as a scare actor! They have me in the woods next to a fake crashed car. I get mixed reactions, but the majority are terrified of me. That is exactly the reaction I was looking for. Children were either scared to death of me, or wanted to hug me.
All in all, this costume was tons of fun to make. It was a great learning experience and I can’t wait to make more costumes!
